“Troopers Helping Children”

The Western Maryland Troopers Association is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity that has been incorporated since 1989. The officers are volunteer Maryland State Troopers, active and retired, who reside in Western Maryland. The primary purposes of this organization is to communicate a message of support to the community by promoting Trooper Camp and a scholarship program. State Troopers working with and for children teaches them a different prospective of your state police. These activities instill respect and understanding of law enforcement in our community and contribute to a safer and better place to live. 

There are currently 255 private citizens or businesses that are members and 62 Maryland active and retired State Troopers who are members. The fundraising as of June 2004 is accomplished by a direct mail campaign. The association participates in the Maryland Charities Campaign and many state employees donate by payroll deduction.
